NOVA SCOTIA NOMINEE PROGRAM (NSNP)

Nova Scotia is on the east coast of Canada and is a part of the Maritime (eastern Atlantic coast) region.  The province is composed of the Nova Scotia peninsula, Cape Breton Island, and over 3,000 smaller islands.  Its capital city, Halifax, is known as a major centre for culture and the arts, as well as for its high standard of living. Nova Scotians are closely connected to the sea, and the province is renowned for its coastal beauty and delicious cuisine.

Through the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP), prospective immigrants with the right skills and experience may receive a Nova Scotia Provincial Nomination Certificate.  The NSNP consists of the following immigration streams: Entrepreneur Stream, International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream, Skilled Worker Stream, Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Stream, and the Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry Stream.

Entrepreneur Stream is intended for experienced business owners or senior business managers who wish to permanently reside in the province.  Applicants must start a new business or buy an existing business and must actively participate in day-to-day management of the business for at least 1 year.

International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is designed for recent graduates, of a Nova Scotia university or the Nova Scotia Community College, who have already started or bought a local business and have maintained day-to-day operations for at least 1 year.  Eligible applicants must intend to settle in Nova Scotia.

Skilled Worker Stream is intended for employers to recruit foreign workers and recent graduates whose skills are needed in the province.  Employers may only hire for positions they have been unable to fill with permanent residents or Canadian citizens.

Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Stream selects highly skilled individuals who intend to live in Nova Scotia permanently; applicants must have a good chance of quickly finding a job in the province.  Basic eligibility qualifications require applicants to have an active Express Entry profile and score at least 67 points in the assessment of 6 selection factors: education, language proficiency, work experience, age, arranged employment in the province, adaptability

Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry Stream selects highly skilled individuals who intend to live in Nova Scotia permanently. Applicants must have at least 1 year or work experience in Nova Scotia in a high skilled occupation (NOC 0, A or B).
